Creative Services

LearnDAT offers our creative services unit to clients that can leverage our expertise on their projects. LearnDAT offers a variety of services to support contracts and grants through MSU based on years of experience developing web sites, web applications, online learning, and virtual learning environments. Below you can find more detail on our capabilities to get a better idea of what we can do, and how it might help you.

Grant Writing

To support the scholarly activity at the university, including research and outreach, LearnDAT can assist you in developing a web-presence. Any idea composed from the services below and grounded in our experience with online learning is fair game. We can help with proposal writing, budgeting, and grant development at the front-end and delivery and execution of the project if you get funding. Instructional Design

LearnDAT has experience making content more modular, repackaging content, and creating online courseware for multiple audiences. You can make use of this experience to choose better strategies to get the most from your content development efforts. We can discuss instructional design strategies with you to ensure the needs of your diverse set of learners are met.

Learning Games

If you are trying to incorporate interactivity, simulation or game elements into your course, LearnDAT can help. Most learning games are difficult to create because of the scope of effort and cost involved with development. LearnDAT's experience building interactive learning tools will allow you to emerge from the early design process with a clear idea of how to start and what resources you'll need. Multimedia and Graphic Design

Your ideas can be made into reality. You may not be able to draw yourself, but by working with LearnDAT you can take advantage of our focus on implementing online learning solutions.

Software Development and Programming

If you don’t have the time or desire to program interactive tools for your course, take the time to contact LearnDAT to see if we can be of help. In many cases, we can perform these functions for you and leave you free to create and teach your course content. Faculty Development

One of LearnDAT’s missions is to help faculty learn about different pedagogical approaches to teaching through the online medium and the available learning technologies. We partner with a variety of other units on campus to reach MSU's instructors. You can regularly find our offerings through Faculty and Organizational Development and the Libraries, Computing and Technology Training available on Spartans Learn.

We also encourage you to sign up for our listserv for announcements about mini-lectures such as our Breakfast Series, as well as multi-day intensive courses, such as our Hybrid 101 Workshop.

We also produce online documentation and training materials about pedagogy in our “Teaching and Learning” section and about tech in our “Tools” section.

Online & Blended Learning

LearnDAT offers a variety of services associated with the development, launch, and enhancement of online and blended courses, certificate-programs, and degree-programs.

Creating New Courses

We will help refine your vision and implement your ideas. You will receive continued assistance while offering your course to students for the first time and enhancements based on feedback after the semester ends. Consulting to Enhance Existing Courses

Consider ways in which technology might enhance and enliven your content or learning environment. Discover how to improve your course and identify the changes that you will make in future semesters. Launching and Nurturing Programs

Like many online instructors, you may be challenged with how to assess the effectiveness of your course or how to evaluate student learning. You can benefit greatly from the ideas and proven strategies LearnDAT has developed with the many previous online instructors. Building the Online Learning Environment

We help gather feedback from faculty and students to design the future of MSU's online learning environment. This involves collecting and organizing personas, functional requirements, and working with software developers and vendors to elaborate a vision for the future and bring it to fruition.

Shaping the Future

We are regularly involved in projects with other Libraries Computing & Technology units to implement new services and features for faculty and students. Let us know what you think, need, or feel about MSU's enterprise learning infrastructure. Examples include MSU's Learning Management Systems like ANGEL and Moodle, Web-Media services like StoreMedia, and Synchronous Learning Platforms like Adobe Connect.

Emerging Technology

You probably hear of a new trend in instructional technology every month. LearnDAT often experiments with new systems and software. You can benefit from our ability to adapt quickly using new technologies. We can help you move beyond the hype and apply the right technologies to your instructional challenges. After we explore options with you and help you focus your idea, we can explore implementation strategies and projects.

Learning Environment Hosting

We can host the website we co-create, in addition to helping you develop your content management system, social network, and other kinds of web-based learning environments. Based in MSU’s datacenter we add value by providing experienced system administrators who work with clients to ensure important monthly maintenance and upgrades take place. Mobile Application Development Platform

LearnDAT provides a hosting platform and professional staff for developing mobile applications. Relevant projects include: mobile applications and websites associated with mobile learning projects, online courses, and blended courses. We try to maintain an environment compatible with MSU's Mobile site but can develop for many platforms. Contact Jiatyan or BJ to meet about your mobile application needs.
